Situated in a remote location, Kami-Shirataki station in Hokkaido used to pick up one passenger every morning at 7 am and returns promptly at 5 pm in the evening . Kana, a high school student who used to catch the service so that she could get to class and then home on time.
Initially , In 2012 company planned to shut down the train station because it was rarely used due to its remote location. After some investigation it was found that a high school girl uses the train everyday to travel to her school everyday, so company announced that it would operate the train until she graduates from school in 2016.
Train used to stop at station based on Kana’s school timetable ,The station is served by the single-track and lies 50 miles from the official starting point of the line at Shin-Asahikawa.
Hokkaido Railway Service had been praised for its nobel service which shows the level of commitment to its customer. The train station shut down on 26th March 2016 when kana graduated from the school.
